How we source our cost data
Every price on this site is researched from multiple US contractor-cost sources, cross-checked across at least three, cited with a link and date, and refreshed on a schedule. We never publish a figure without a source.
Why trust these numbers?
Home-project costs vary by material, region, and scope — so we publish ranges, not false precision, and we show the sources behind every figure. Where sources disagree, we say so.
How each guide is built
- Research: we gather cost data from established sources like Angi, HomeAdvisor, Fixr, HomeGuide, This Old House, and manufacturer pricing.
- Cross-check: each headline figure is confirmed across at least three independent sources; our published range is the synthesized consensus.
- Cite & date: every guide lists its sources with links and the date the data was gathered.
- Refresh: guides are re-researched on a schedule so prices stay current.
What we don't do
We don't invent numbers, and we don't copy other sites' text or tables — costs are facts we synthesize into our own ranges. Figures are estimates to help you plan; always get local quotes for exact pricing on your project.
